Email activism
by Keridwen on 25 February 2001 @ 11:21 PM

I've been told that politicians have little respect for email messages because they are just too easy to fire off--and that the writer isn't really committed enough to sit down and compose a letter, put it in an envelope, pay for a stamp, and go through the bother of mailing it.

Is there any way of knowing if sending off these emails is of value? Sure, it makes me feel good to be doing something--but I'm still feeling a little guilty at how easy it is. Can anyone cite a case where being bombarded with emails has made a difference?

Thanks

it's impossible to know if an email attack to someone will really mean something but i believe that it is better than doing nothing.
You never know if it will have any affect but only the number of emails of a simple attack is a kind of a pole on public opinion for that matter.
furthermore this is the only way for anyone to say his opinion concerning a problem and in adition email attacks are an easy way for an issue to become known on the media as something the public must know of.
