Need to Act
by NZBobGreen on 29 December 2000 @ 09:37 PM

As a seasoned campaigner I would appeal to those drawn to this forum to act to progress the cause of conservation. Having been involved in issues for many years I have seen far too many people just simply talk among themselves & to those of like mind. What we have to do is make a conscious effort to encourage the unenlightened to come aboard. It is not always easy! To many the thought of having their views challenged is to be avoided - but believe me the conservation cause will not be helped one jot unless we carry the campaign as far & as wide as we can. I appeal to everyone not to become engrossed in friendly little chats through these columns but rather draw strength & encouragement from them before making a determined effort to bring on board those who haven't become aware of the issues. There is a huge task to do - sitting round the camp fire is cosy but the real work needs to be done by approaching as many people as possible. That's where the Internet shines - draw others to these sites & encourage these people to pick up the cause too. Happy New Year to the troops. Kind regards, NZBobGreen

Hi NZBobGreen

absolutely...the way i see it...to many greenies sit around talking about how terrible things are without actually doing anything about it...what is the point of that???...

the internet has provided like minded people all over the world to link up...but its not enough to sit around and chat about it and for me personally i want to do more that just make donations...so lets talk about ways in which we can take direct action...

still thinking about it...back later

Hello i have enjoyed this thread. but i need some help. I just joined Greenpeace a few months back and have done the emails lots of phone calls and even printed the "Coupons" about GMO's and given them two several store managers (i think they went in he garbadge). I am sick and have trouble getting out ( i signed up for a computer class and hope i can go to just one class). I want to help anyway i can but i can't be a field activist . I might be able to hand out flyers like Maria said she did but the Www.greenspirit.com site has me worried greenpeace is not all that great ...but then there is the site that its maker Patrick moore "is a big fat liar" i dont know who to believe and i dont know if i could tll a person to join greenpeace because of this .
What can i do to help the cause in my condition?
