plain text and HTML
by Richard Trigaux on 23 December 2000 @ 10:02 PM

Hello, I tried to make a nice homepages using HTML, tables, colours, images, etc... but I noted the following problem:

When there are carriage returns in the text, or blanks, the corresponding HTML tags are broken. For instance:

link="link">
does not work, the following text appears: link="link">

does not work either, it gives the same result.

For this reason if HTML is used, blanks and carriage return must be checked out. Common HTML editors does not work. Clearly your system does accept carriage returns and blanks in the flow of HTML commands, although every normal HTML inderpreter does. For this reason I suggest that before the change button it could be a choice: plain text or HTML, like here on this page.

Another problem is that, when my text exceeds a certain length, to press on the "change" button does not have any effect (it does nothing, even not sending an error message) although on the homepage, at right, there is still a message inviting to place more text. The button and the message must agree!

Otherwise to make this system of homepages was a nice idea, thanks for it!

Richard, thanks for your bug report. Fixing problems with home pages and webmail is the goal of the next beta release, which should be out sometime in January. I welcome any bug reports now, so we can get this kind of problem fixed as soon as possible.
