What actions can we take to prevent this from happening again? This sounds like a terrible disaster. Could we write to the government and mayor of Rio? Maybe hit them with a petition and demand for this catastrophe to stop repeating itself, again and again? There has to be some way of preventing this.

I AGREE!!! I live on the lagoa and it stinks!! Rio's government has to get their butt in gear and clean up that lagoon once and for all! WE should over run the government and take over making it a productive working establishment!
Thank You, Marina Graham

How about collecting all the dead, rotting fish and march it up to the governor's mansion, with everyone wearing face masks? See how much he likes it in his front yard.

Fish continues diyng in Rio, and nothing has been done yet. There is feel oxygen and temperature is high and this is not good for fish.
94 tons of fish have died until now in Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, in Rio de Janeiro. This week things got better, but red flag has been shown again. Oxygen level got near zero and temperature got high. We are expecting for more death. Nothing has been done yet. Project to improve water exchange is being studied, but it doesn't seems to be aproved right now. This lagoon receives water from the ocean, and the water exchange is not enough.
