What next? Not cow farts but cowsh_t!
by gea on 19 April 2001 @ 08:15 PM

Could rancher Bush have something to do with the latest calls from Washington on its cows to ease the energy crisis. No we're not talking about vaccinations against methane farts but the genearation of clean burning environmentally friendly dung deposted by the states cows.
Still involves methane - 75% of the gas produced on mixing dung, bacteria and occasional heat.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against cows or biomass - on the contrary, biomass is one of the cheapest renewable energy sources, but there seems to be rather a lot of bull or is that Bush_tting going on here - first cutting renewable energy budgets and now promoting biomass.

If there's a willingness to fund a new biogas plant which could pay for itself in only 6 years, (another example of why government action is needed to remove initial trade barriers), why not other forms of renewable energy as well?
