Ship's Log

Emily
Radio Operator
UK

I’ve been a member of Greenpeace since I was even younger. One day I was in Fremantle Australia and saw this big green ship in port. I was lucky enough to be taken on board to the Southern Ocean and I did not get sea sick. I am still here but maybe not all there.

Now we are in the Amazon wow! There are so many trees to hug I don’t know how I am going to do any radio work. We have to stop the illegal logging in this amazing place. We are in the lungs of the world and they are disappearing, stolen from our future children by greed and in astonishingly violent, cut it all down, attitude.

Next time you buy something made from wood, or you get some of those ‘disposable’ chopsticks in a restaurant. STOP! Think where did this come from and am I part of the deforestation disaster happening all over the ancient forests of our planet? It is up to all of us to make the changes in our lives as the trees cannot talk for themselves, they sometimes talk to me but that is another story.
